Jeanette Thwing is Orlando’s top fashion blogger (www.jseverydayfashion.com), inspiring women everywhere to embrace their inner fashionistas. She takes some time out to chat to us about all things fashionable in Orlando”¦
Your fashion blog is enormously popular, how do you explain what you’ve accomplished in the past year?
I think I’ve hit a nerve with women. We want less fantasy fashion, and more affordable and practical style ideas, and that’s exactly what I’m providing. I model all the outfits myself, too, which I think gives it a more personal, “I can get away with this, so can you” feel. I often take inspiration from celeb outfits and try and convert them to suit me – which seems to be popular with the readers because they can do it too.
Your name is interchangeable with style & shopping, where is your favourite place to shop in Orlando?
Orlando is a shopping mecca – we have great deals, plenty of malls and beautiful weather. Personal favourites are Florida Mall, Mall at Millenia and the outlets. One area I feel very qualified in is scoring amazing deals at the mall. In fact, this little talent was the main reason I started blogging!
Weather here in Orlando is pretty hot in the summer, what’s your best tip for looking good while staying cool?
When it’s really hot, it’s all about being comfortable. Breezy fabrics, comfy shoes, and light accessories.
What’s your favourite thing to do in Orlando when you’re not shopping/styling?
I never visited Disney as a child, so I’m really enjoying exploring the theme parks. I also love boating, jet skiing, and hitting up nearby Clearwater or New Smyrna Beach. I also love attending networking events and sampling Orlando’s large variety of restaurants such as The Wine Room on South Park Avenue, Urban Flats (serves the best gourmet flatbreads) and Agave Azul (an authentic Mexican restaurant).
What do you think makes Orlando unique?
It’s the most amazing mix of a small and big town. I see familiar faces whenever I’m out and about and yet there is always so much more to see and do!
