With nearly 150,000 hotel rooms and 13 of the 20 largest hotels in the world, Las Vegas has more places to stay than any other city on the planet, so it’s no wonder we have a tough time deciding where to stay! One of our favourites, however, is the Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, known as the younger, larger and hipper version of its sister hotel, Wynn Las Vegas. One of the highlights for us is the entrance - a 40,000 square foot atrium where chirping birds can be spotted in the real trees! We love the Egyptian cotton linens and L-shaped sofas – both perfect for collapsing onto after a long day in Sin City.
Las Vegas is famous for its enormous all-day hotel buffets, and we can’t leave without enjoying at least a couple. We can highly recommend the Bellagio Buffet – one of the most popular in the city, with its truly awe-inspiring array of cooking stations. Whether its Italian, Japanese, Chinese or good old American food that you fancy, it’s all there. The seafood here is especially good – we’re hooked on the shrimp and Chilean sea bass. Also – whenever we’re in the mood to splurge (or when a gamble has paid off!) we opt for the champagne brunch at the weekend - it’s really very special.
Coming to Las Vegas and not seeing a Cirque du Soleil show is like going to London and not seeing Big Ben. We consider it essential. We love “Zumanity” at the New York New York (adults only) and those of us with kids in tow never miss “Mystère” at Treasure Island. The perennial aquatic favourite, “O” at Bellagio has been dazzling us for years and “Criss Angel’s BELIEVE” at the Luxor is the perfect show for the magician aficionados amongst us. No matter what your age, budget or preference is – there really is something for everyone.
When it comes to nightclubs in Las Vegas, we think TAO at The Venetian is one of the most exciting. It’s continually lauded as one of the hottest venues in Vegas, and we can’t help but agree, and in a city brimming with nightlife choices that says a lot. Everything, from its infamous women in bathing tubs wearing little more than flower petals to its VIP booths overlooking the dance floor, is over the top. That dance floor, by the way, spills out onto the most gorgeous terrace, and we just can’t get enough of the view of the Strip. Oh, and keep your eyes open for celebrity spots – the place is positively teeming with them.
