In addition to its gorgeous beaches and abundant sunshine, Orlando is a family-friendly destination for another reason: amazing Florida wildlife. Whether in theme parks, on adventure trips, or boat excursions, it’s possible to get up close and personal with aquatic animals like dolphins, manatees, and more.
That most famous of aquatic creatures, the dolphin has been drawing in crowds of animal-loving visitors to Orlando for quite some time. SeaWorld’s Discovery Cove is the perfect place to experience things up close, with its Dolphin Interaction: a signature experience which gives you 30 minutes in the water with the dolphins. The water’s shallow, the group size is limited, and dolphin hugs are encouraged!
Or, take it a step further by becoming a Trainer for a Day. Shadow one of SeaWorld’s famed dolphin trainers while you learn how these incredibly smart animals become talented entertainers. Guests as young as six years old are welcome with a paying guardian, but reservations are required for both adventures, so book before you board!
If swimming isn’t your thing, don’t fret – there’s an experience just as awesome up for grabs at Disney’s Dolphins in Depth at Epcot. Equal parts dolphin interaction and trainer education, Dolphins in Depth gives you the best of both worlds, taking you behind the scenes at The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion. Since you’ll be wading in waist-high water, you don’t need to know how to swim for this adventure, just be ready for some dolphin splashes when these incredibly social mammals swim up to meet their new friends. Guests for Disney’s Dolphins in Depth at Epcot must be at least 13 years old.
