Light Packing Picks for Business Travel Style

In the third of our guest posts from fashion editor Charlene Campbell of Style News, we're looking again at jetsetting in style with some classy combos for the female business traveller…

Make it Easy

Travelling for business means taking a wardrobe selection with looks less ordinary. However, the challenge with any work trip is making a professional statement while packing light without the luxury of your entire wardrobe…

With a few items on our checklist you can make your business travel so much easier. Simply invest in versatile office staples that you can mix and match that are easy to pack. Avoid bulky blazers and printed dresses; they make life hard when you're on the go and printed all-in-ones are so memorable that they don't allow for repeat wears.

Keep it classic

Stick to classic black and navy buys for your main looks. Buying separate jackets and skirts rather than suits means you can continually create new two-piece impressions - you can also pair the jacket with a classic little black dress for a sophisticated edge. Here are some handpicked must haves pieces for light packing that will suit the modern woman's working style.

AustinReed-dress and French Connection court shoes

Austin Reed Signature Black Crepe Dress £199 and French Connection Janeen Pointed Toe Stiletto Court £100

At the top of our list this season, is the Black Crepe Dress from Austin Reed. It's your ticket to an instant outfit and teamed with French Connection's Janeen Pointed Toe Court Shoes, you'll certainly look the part. An added bonus with the court shoes, is that they pair nicely with all working styles so, you won't need to pack another pair. It’s a win-win.

A touch of flare

Where separates are concerned, a statement block colour or printed blouse adds a bit of trend value to your outfit. We searched the high street for a blouse to make a seasonal statement and our favourite pick was Monsoon's bird printed blouse, it carries through the popular animal print theme for the season and is a delicate addition with a level of office elegance.

Mix and Match

For a classic mix and match item to use throughout your stay, Topshop's Black Cotton Blazer is the way to go. It’s a light option, so it’s easy to carry and can be teamed nicely with your LBD or our HOBB’s skirt selection.

Finally, the accessories rule for winning style is, minimalism sells sophistication. We've chosen the White enamel & wood bangles from House of Fraser to add a modern craft statement. So, you can promote your creative flair in your office look and make for a successful working stay.
