We may have half term in Britain, but in America they have a different sort of seasonal holiday: spring break. Music to any young American’s ears, ‘spring break’ denotes, at minimum, a week off from school or university. For the party-hardy types, though, it also means a mass migration down south to the beaches of Florida, the Caribbean, and other hotspots along the Gulf of Mexico.
Depending on your preferences, you can choose to opt for a relaxing, surfside break or something a bit more debauched – picture pool parties with risqué contests, beach parties with loud music, and clubs packed with bronzed, carefree revellers.
This weeklong party is a hallowed American tradition, and if you’re looking to take part, these three top destinations promise the full spring break experience.
Tip: Watch out for the epic queues and cover charges – which can be anywhere from $25-$60, sometimes more in peak times.
