Colourful, intense and just a tad crowded, Mumbai makes the perfect destination for budding filmmakers. From street food stalls to sprawling city markets, there’s a whole lot of exploring to do here and a lot of interesting people about to meet on the way. We’ve picked out a few of our favourite films to give you a little taster of everyday life in the city.
“Mumbai” by Paul O’Brien
This atmospheric time-lapse video by Paul O’Brian takes us through the sights and sounds of Mumbai’s streets from colourful fresh fruit and veg markets to spice stalls.
“Mumbai, India” by Doranmcb
This student account of time spent in the city provides a great insight into local life. We love the dramatic shots of Mumbai in monsoon.
“Street Food - City One Minutes” by Neha Raheja Thakker
From the humble coconut to carefully crafted dishes, street food in India is a big thing and this film by Neha Raheja Thakker includes some taste bud tingling delights…we can almost smell super.
“Bombay, Chowpatty Beach, India” by Henk Groenen
We love this laidback beach video filmed at Mumbai’s Chowpatty Beach. More candy floss and barbequed sweet corn than curry, Henk Groenen’s film shows a sweeter side to city life.
“Evening at Juhu Beach, Mumbai” by Rikta Krishnaswamy
This short video by Rikta Krishnaswamy gives a flavour of Mumbai’s vibrant night scene. Filmed at Juhu Beach, the fast pace of this film works perfectly with the upbeat nature of life in the city.
