Five Hot Hotel Bars in Las Vegas

by Moderator June 2012 - last edited February 2013 by Community Manager

Unlike many cities in the world, the best bars in Las Vegas are often to be found within the confines of its hotels. In fact, we'd go so far as to say some of the best bars in the world can be found right here in Sin City. We've selected just five of our favourites, but we'd love to hear about your own finds too so please share your discoveries in the comments below...

Parasol Up and Down Bars at Wynn

Definitely not your average Las Vegas hotel bar, Parasol Up and Down is an upmarket, whimsical two-tiered combo, with the lower level 'Down' spilling out onto a patio overlooking the 'Lake of Dreams' and the waterfall, and a grand spiralling escalator leading to 'Up', where a more chilled out atmosphere allows for quiet conversation and lingering. Handcrafted cocktails are the speciality here - try the 'Pear-a-sol' Pear Martini or a Black Cherry Fizz. A great choice for daytime libations too.

Ghostbar at Palms

Got a head for heights? Ghostbar sits on the 55th floor of Palms Casino Resort and offers arguably the best views of any bar in Las Vegas. Not only that, a glass panel in the floor of the balcony lets you gaze directly down upon the pool - it's enough to make you giddy. Back inside you'll find the bar's interior is every bit as showy and dazzling as its clientele. Modular white sofas, geometric patterns, plenty of industrial-style metal and spectrum lighting lend a futuristic, slightly sci-fi feel. This is one of the trendiest nightlife venues in Las Vegas, so you'll need to get your gladrags on to get in.

Mandarin Bar at the Mandarin Oriental

Another hotel, another great view. Mandarin Bar may only be half as high up as Ghostbar, but what it lacks in elevation it makes up for in style. In a city not low on wow-factor interiors, walking into the Mandarin really does feel like stumbling upon a genuine Las Vegas secret. The bar caters to a slightly older crowd and oozes sophistication from the lighting and glassware to the long dark sofas offset by splashes of tangerine and red, all surrounded on three sides by floor to ceiling windows. The cocktail menu is equally inventive - we say plump for a Champagne Mojito or Lychee Smash.

The Deuce Lounge at Aria

If high-stakes gaming is your bag, you can indulge right here in the Deuce Lounge on the casino floor of the Aria. With a seductive, dimly-lit, slightly masculine interior full of comfy leather sofas and club chairs, it's a great location for larger groups of friends, especially if you want to hit up one of the blackjack tables or sit back and watch a sports game or boxing match on one of the huge plasma screens. A great post-club venue too, with a creative menu of appetizers served all day.

The Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan

We know Las Vegas likes its bling, but the Cosmopolitan takes it to extremes with a three-bar multi-level venue housed completely within a giant chandelier. Essentially a giant sculptural art exhibit formed of two million glittering crystal beads, the luminous 65-feet tall 'curtains' combine layer upon layer of string and beads to create a semi-translucent skin around the interior. The creativity continues on the inside too, with a molecular mixology menu for cocktail connoisseurs.
