An all-new 3-D ride featuring the best-loved characters from hit film Despicable Me will officially open at Universal Orlando Resort on 2nd July.
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is one of the year's most anticipated theme park attraction openings. The ride combines the latest 3-D technology and incredible animation with an all-new storyline featuring Gru, Margo, Edith, Agnes and an army of mischievous minions, to create a wild and hilarious family-friendly theme park experience.
As part of Gru's latest mission, you'll watch in amazement as you're transformed into minions and train to join Gru's minion army, before getting the chance to boogie down during the world's first minion-inspired dance party.
The ride starts when you enter Gru, Margo, Edith and Agnes's home and learn that you're being recruited to become minions. After putting on 3-D "minion goggles" in the living room and being scanned for "human germs" in the Minionization Prep Room, you'll board Minion Transformation Pods to commence your training. Things don't quite go according to plan however, and you'll soon find yourselves on a chaotic and laughter-filled adventure through Gru's super-villain laboratory.
The unforgettable ride experience is topped off with an exciting dance party where you'll get the chance to show off your best moves. With a sparkling disco ball hanging overhead, the interactive celebration features large projection screens so that you can watch yourselves partying with the minions to the legendary disco tune "Boogie Fever".
In the run up to the grand opening date, the attraction is now in technical rehearsal, which means that park visitors may have the opportunity to experience the ride as a work in progress on selected days and times while Universal Studios puts the finishing touches on the experience.
Also coming up in July is the Universal Studios Summer Concert Series, taking place from 9 - 14 July with performances from legendary artists Al Green and ZZ Top among others. The Summer Concert Series performances are included with your admission to Universal Studios Florida.
