Glamour Gang: Our New York Fashion Week Bloggers

by andrew February 2011 - last edited February 2013 by Community Manager

You may have noticed we already love NYC and this week we're doing it differently. For 2011's New York Fashion Week, we're celebrating the city in style and among the most stylish.

Today we're honoured to be accompanying some of the UK's top fashion bloggers, who'll be chauffeured to Heathrow where they'll be treated to spa treatments at the Virgin Atlantic Club House before jetting off for a week of runway mayhem.

Watch out for guest posts from each of the glamour gang in the coming weeks. For now, let's meet out four fashionistas…

Kristin Knox

Kristin Knox - The Clothes Whisperer

Kristin Knox - The Clothes Whisperer

Kristin is a New York born, London-based blogger, journalist and author. She launched The Clothes Whisperer in 2009 and it's gone on to garner wide acclaim from Grazia, Nylon Japan, Vogue Japan, Stella Magazine and Cosmopolitan. The site's ethos revolves around intellectual interaction and initiating conversation about fashion. Kristin has also worked as a stylist and an events photographer and published her first book Alexander McQueen: The Genius of a Generation, last year. World Fashion, her second, is expected in September 2011.

Plans for Fashion Week?

"NYFW is all about hitting as many shows and parties as you can! Shows from 9-9 each day, running around in high heels like a maniac…Antics are always at their highest during NYFW since it's the first of the fashion weeks and everyone still has energy and feet capable of walking in six inch stilettos. NYFW is also all about the party scene, no one parties like the New York fash pack. The Wang and Jacobs parties are always the toughest to crack, but worth the wait. Show-wise, I can't wait to check out Jason Wu, DVF and Ralph Lauren!"

Charlotte Smith-Galoul

Charlotte heads up StyleCartel, "a consortium of Stylish and Independent Trend Spotters". The blog-zine reports on fashion and beauty trends via a mix of contributors with a range of talents, ages, opinions and styles. Style Cartel is on the pulse of both today’s top trends and the news that effects our daily routine: a site for real women with a passion for life.

Plans for Fashion Week?

"I plan to cover the shows, shop and eat: all the things this NYC girl misses about home."

James Mills

Editor in chief at Stylenoir, James aims to inspire and motivate people to achieve what they have only dreamed of before. The site's modus operandi is to cut through pedestrian fashion and culture, spark debate and create controversy. Stylenoir was nominated as one of 'top ten to watch' by WGSN, also featuring in the Style 99 list and won the 2010 Jaeger styling competition. James is the author of The Black Book of Art and Fashion.

Plans for Fashion Week?

"I will be attending as much of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week as possible. Following the Stylenoir aesthetic, I will also be attending edgier fashion designers' (such as Katie Gallagher's) shows, which are taking place off-schedule.

On top of this, SN shall be meeting with and interviewing photographers, models and designers that are supporters of ours. Model Bridget Blonde will be joining me for the week, alongside Vogue/W Magazine photographer Elias Wessel and others."

Catherine Kallon

Catherine Kallon - Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Catherine is the founder and editor of Red Carpet Fashion Awards, the site she started as hobby, which has gone on to be covered in Elle, Company and American Vogue. RCFA chronicles the ensembles from the New York, London, Milan and Paris runways and specialises in covering red carpet events. Glamorous attendees of The Oscars, BAFTAs, the Golden Globes, the Grammys, the BRIT Awards et al are separated into 'the Good, the Bad and the What Were You Thinking?'

Plans for Fashion Week?

"I will be attending shows, sometimes 8 or more in a day, while also finding time to head back to my hotel to update my readers on the news and gossip. I'll also be updating live via twitter, so my followers can see the latest looks as they hit the runway. At night I'll be attending trendy parties and mingling with the fashion folks.

As many US labels aren't found at home, I will also try to find the time to shop for looks I know aren't available in the UK."

For all the latest #NYFW news, hover over our live twitterstream at the left of the page. We'll also be live tweeting the events of today at twitter.com/vtravelled, but be sure to follow Kristin, Charlotte, Catherine and James for ALL the news and gossip throughout the week.
